Would Jesus Burn Qurans?

What Does It Mean To Be A Christian?

To All My Christian, Muslim, Jewish and All other Brothers and Sisters around the World.

We have all been given the gift of Life. We come in all shapes, sizes and colors. But, we all have a totally unique situation. We grow up in vastly diverse environments. No two people in the world have the same exact experience.

The environment we grow up in strongly influences much of who we are. But, there is a part of us that begins new each day. That is our Life. In this Life, there are some things we have control of and some things we do not. And some things seem so big that it feels useless to even tackle. Those things are our “Goliaths”. One of my “Goliaths” has reared his head and this letter is my stone.

I have become so distressed at the Global Face of Christianity. from two bit characters threatening to burn Qurans, child molesters past and present, crooks, liars and murderers who hide behind the cloth, I am truly appalled. I am so fundamentally Christian and I am thoroughly disgusted at how we are portrayed Globally.

I would like to express that the Jesus I claim as Brother and Savior would never do any of those things. But, Christianity, it seems, has been spread through the use of violence for much of its history. Almost all throughout its expansion, barbaric measures of conversion have been used. The Crusades, the Reformation of the Indgenous People in the USA, Canada, Mexico and many other places across the planet.

It is so heart-breaking that all kinds of atrocities have been carried out in the name of the most peaceful man that ever walked the Earth. And the Bible does say that many things will be carried out by people claiming the name of Jesus. He warns that they knew Him not and that in the presence of our Abba Father He will declare that He does not know them.

The Bible says that God judges a man according to his heart. And that God alone is Judge. It also says that God is Just in His Judgment.

Christians speak judgmentally all the time. And how that is to be reckoned with, I do not know. But, what I do know is that the way Christianity is portrayed worldwide is a big lie. Jesus would never burn a Quran. He would never molest anyone much less a child. Nor would He murder or beat or force His beliefs on anyone else. He would give all that He has freely. Just, as He did. I am Blessed because He was pure. I am so humbly grateful to be a child of Grace.

With all the fighting and ugliness between the different religions, it is evident that evil runs through the hearts of people of all Faiths. And no one has a big enough perception to have it exactly correct. All I have to be sure of is that Jesus died for me and I so greatfully accept his life as mine. And I am to spread the Good News that Jesus fullfilled the Law.

I am not to judge, condemn or force others to act in a certain way. I am called to live and strive for Truth and Peace in all situations. And in order to see Truth I must try to see from all perspectives not just my own.

Continuing daily to attempt to become more Truthful, Compassionate, Forgiving, Loving and Peaceful is my top priority. I rarely see those traits expressed in modern Christianity or any religion for that matter.

Life and Time is spent so frivolously fighting to attain things that are so ultimately temporary. So much of the time we have been given to Live, Love, Laugh and fellowship has been and still is being wasted on the accumulation of possessions, prominence, positions, and power. Solomon realized this when he spoke of “All for nothing” and “Chasing of the Wind.”

I pray that this little pebble I am slinging at Goliath is a dead hit in the eyes of many around the world. Real Christians in America or anywhere else are called to replicate the attitudes and behaviors of Jesus. This letter is my plea to tell the entire world what a true Christian looks like.

Always in Peace and Love,

Christiansister

You're right--people use the guise of Christianity to do many things and give Jesus a bad name. The Jesus I know is pure and holy, yet compassionate and kind. He loves Muslims but not the hate that some religious fanatics promote. Thanks for sharing.

To be fair and impartial the question in the title has but one answer and that is NO. Man has been given free will. I need to read a copy of the Qaran, I have no idea of what's inside, based on that, much less the ruckus raised over the threat, I need to read it to know about what it holds for man to know. Good hub on a volatile topic, 50

Love It two thumbs up!!!

I have lived in this country (North America) since June 25th 1988 and while I love the vastness and beauty of this contentment I'm not in love with American Christianity. My journey through the American churches has been sadly disappointing. I came here with a passion for God and all that he has to offer us. I expected (naively) that the church here would be just as passionate, but I was greatly disappointed. You see I had and still have a wonderful love for god and the glorious wonders and life he has to offer through an intimate relationship with him.

Over the past 20 years I have only met a hand full of people who were thoroughly passionate about God, the vast majority had a knowledge about him or were more concerned about their status before others or telling other Christians how they should live their lives or building their own kingdoms and bringing converts into the same bondage as themselves

. In short I believe God brought me to this country to teach me how to love the lost sheep of his flock and it has been very hard class to take! Many times I have wanted to quit. But as I slowly progress and gain his understanding of unconditional love I gain understanding of how he feels by the churches rejection of his love

. All God wanted in the very beginning was a relationship with Adam and eve. It was so simple! God having healthy fellowship with his creation. They talked about everything and laughed at each others humor , there were no big list of rules to follow except one don't eat the fruit of just one tree....that was it!

I truly love your Hub it is so real as is your heart!!!

Jesus says to love your enemy, and burning books accomplishes nothing...but we still cannot disown the Bible if we are Christian, and if you read the Koran instead of burn it, you will see they are still the enemy... I didn't say this read the Koran and read the Bible and decide for yourself:

" But even if we or an ANGEL from heaven should preach to you a gospel contrary to and different from that which we preached to you, let him be accursed (anathema, devoted to destruction, doomed to eternal punishment)! As we said before, so I now say again:If anyone is preaching to you a gospel different from or contrary to that which you received from us, let him be accursed ( anathema, devoted to destruction, doomed to eternal punishment)! Now am I trying to win the favor of men, or of God? Do I seek to please men? If I were still seeking popularity with men, I should not be a bond servant of Christ (the Messiah.)

For I want you to know brethren, that the Gospel which was proclaimed and made known by me is not men's invention, according to or patterned after any human standard. For indeed I did not receive it from man, nor was a taught it, but it came to me, through a direct revelation given by Jesus Christ the messiah."

Galations 1:8-12 amp.

even better, open it up and rad the whole chapter... then read what the Koran says about Jesus...

No Christian should attempt to understand Islam without reading the Koran, and no Muslim should attempt to understand Christianity without reading the bible...

Dear Angel,

I am sorry it took a little time to respond to your comment. But, that was because I never answer difficult things by memory of what I have read. I have learned never rely on memory or the word of someone else's teaching to dictate the words that I will give an account for. So, I went back and researched in prayer and spirit the “Gospel” you are referring to, along with your definition of the enemy.

The “enemy” is not flesh and blood. And He (the enemy) has managed to establish a very strong foothold in all religions, as well as all positions of power in the earth. Be it religious, governmental, or secular, the enemy is present and firmly planted in all arenas of power in this world. And He most definitely uses All of these places to continue to build and fortify himself in our realm, working furiously to change the inevitable. Judgment.

He has permeated all parts of the earth and made himself master over them. I went back and read again the passage you pointed out in Galatians. And what my spirit understands is in direct contrast to what you seem to be implying here. In Galatians 1: 8-12 is referring to the “Gospel” given by the Holy Spirit to the Christians at Pentecost in Acts. So to understand, we must go and read Acts to get the “Gospel.” Then discern what that Gospel truly is. And so I went back in prayer and read it again.

After, doing this I came out with a different impression of this Gospel than what you are using it to mean. This message is also very different from anything I see in practice in “Christendom” as most Christians understand it to be.

These passages in Galatians refer to the instruction and Gospel laid out in the book of Acts.

In the beginning of Acts it tells us about the Pentecost and the revelation of and from the Holy Spirit. And what was that Revelation? The Revelation actually starts in Acts 2:17. (of course the disciples believed that they were living in the Last Days.)They were uninformed.

And, this is not the first time they had been wrong. Jesus continually rebuked, explained and corrected their thinking. Even up until the crucifixion and after. (It is extremely important for us to understand in what age in which we live. Especially, because we are in the last days.)

The Gospel in Acts

Acts 2:17 “ In the last days, God says.

I will pour out my Spirit on all people.

Your sons and daughters will prophesy,

Your young men will see visions,

Your old men will dream dreams.

2:18 Even on my servants, both men and women,

I will pour out my Spirit in those days,

And they will prophesy.

(This is the new wine for new wineskins my words)

2:19 I will show wonders in the heavens above

and signs on the earth below,

blood and fire and billows of smoke.

2:20 The sun will be turned to darkness

And the moon to blood

before the great and glorious day of the

Lord.

2:21 And anyone who calls on the name of the Lord

will be saved. (until the very end)

2:25 David said about him:

“I saw the Lord always before me.

Because he is at my right hand.

I will not be shaken.

2:26 Therefore my heart is glad and my tongue

rejoices,

my body also will live in hope,

2:27 because you will not abandon me to the grave,

Nor will you let your Holy One see decay.

2:28 You have made known to me the paths of life;

You will fill me with joy in your presence.

This is the Gospel laid out in Acts. And the people repented and were baptized. And they began to live life according to the leadership of the Holy Spirit for a while. They abandoned the life that called for them to own property and possession individually.

They came together to share all that they had. And no one was needy or hungry or lacking. And no one lived above or below another. They lived communally and cared for each other above all else. They lived their lives, worshiped, ate, worked and fellow shipped together daily.

Anyone who attempts to live this way in our society today will be faced with #1 slander, #2 investigation, #3 destruction.

Do you know that it is against the law to barter in the USA?

Anyone who decides to live according to Christian principals will be hated and ridiculed by the world.

Knowing this, if you take a moment to examine the lives we lead as so-called Christians, you will see that not only are we not living the life that Jesus has called for us to live, we are also guilty of manipulating scripture to deceive.

Because of what I have seen in this life, my heart believes that most Christians have not even read their Bibles themselves. They read the passages and parts that their pastors paste and package together to prove a point He wish to interpret to them.

If anyone preaches anything other than living according to the Beatitudes, they are sadly mistaken and are leading others astray. Matthew 5:3 – 7:27, Luke 6:17-49.

I agree with you that a Christian should read the Qaran before trying to understand Islam.

But, more importantly they should read what Jesus has to say about how to live life, forgetting all they have been taught by men, and come to the words of Jesus as a child. Pray and ask for revelation and then read the New Testament in a new way. Read only the red letters (the words of Jesus) for themselves and remove the plank from their own eye before attempting to remove the speck from their brother’s eye. I say all of this in much love. I was lead astray until Jesus revealed his awesome power to me and I began to see that no preacher or teacher could help me. Reading, praying and seeking on my own I began to see the truth.

Jesus showed me that I did not know enough to know who will be saved and who will be counted as enemy. Because Jesus died for all mankind and his power to save is much Bigger than most Christians give it credit. And who can know the way of the Lord, Our Abba Father.

I think the hierarchy of priests, bishops, cardinals and such has produced envy, wealth, greed and ultimately corruption. Everyone is connected (to each other and) to the Great Spirit - there is no need for all the glamor or a multitude of middlemen.

The Great Spirit I believe in (and I think it is the same one that you believe in as well), does not ask for money; it does not hand us a plate for collection.

Religion is about profit now, not spirituality. There is much talk but no deeds because faith is invisible and that is all we talk about. Anyone can claim faith but who indeed is faithful to the Truth?

May Wakan Tanka walk with you,

I loved this Hub....it realy spoke to me because as a Muslim we are taught to have repsct for other peoples religions, as a matter of fact one of the books that we are all suppose to have in our homes is the bible which contains the New Testament which was revealed to Jesus, Also we are to have the Psalms and the Torah all of which God revealed to His prophets...saddly though these books have been changed and passages forgotten over the many years they have been in existence.

Dear Knowledgeseeker,

I am sure that the radical muslims the media tends to portray are not the whole or even majority of the muslim people. Its the the same smear campaign that they use on christians. The true christians are never talked of in the mainstream media.

And it really saddens me that we are portrayed in such a bad light most of the time. You hear plenty about the so-called christians who molest children and bomb clinics and act utterly un-christian.

But, that is the nature of the Beast. We all are God's children and it is so sad that Satan stirs the heart of man so vigorously to wrath against each other.

That being said the Bible states that this will happen. And that we as christians are to be sober to the happenings around us. So, as not to be decieved. Because Satan is the master of deception.

We are to seek with our hearts and prayers for guidance from the Holy Spirit. And to find truth we must be willing to abandon traditions of men and come to him as a child and the Spirit will direct us.

Due to the mass deception in the World, I only put stock in the words Jesus said and that is to live life as he did. And the Bible is very plain in regards to how Jesus said we are to strive to live.

Thank you for taking the time to read and comment on my hub. May the Father keeps us all wrapped tightly in his Love and Compassion.

Very nice hub, I agree with you here. Many people separate themselves by religion, race, beliefs and so on. I feel that God and God alone has the right to judge, He loves all of His creations unconditionally so therefore there should be no reason for us to hate and fear amongst each other that way. I don't believe that a prophet, a messenger a God, would go so far as to disrespect the beliefs of another person simply because there were different from his own. Anyways I really liked this one, great job.

As humans we should all know right from wrong. Right is right & Wrong is wrong FINISH. If animals can understand that then so should humankind without any historical documents needed. I believe in GOD but not man written books for its these very books that caused all the division, pain, wars & suffering. It divided mankind from each other in debates, hatred & conflicts that will last till the end of time.

christiansister profile image

christiansister Hub Author 3 months ago

Vonasmodeus,

Thank you for your comment, and I do agree with you. Except that, one way that people differ from animals is that some people have an unnatural desire for control over others for their own gain of power and their own arrogance. They are willing to sell out their brothers for gain of notoriety. I believe that the pain, hatred and conflicts are manufactured more for the cause of material gain, power, control and ones own warped ego. And it is my belief that these things wear all kinds of masks, not just religion. These dark desires have cloaked themselves under the mask of religion many times. But, it oozes from other sectors also. And if the christians who do hurtful and awful things in the name of christianity would actually read the words of Jesus they would have to re-examine their actions and ideals and realize that they are sooooo off track. But unfortunately, they love their traditions and being spoon fed what they should believe by their preachers and teachers and will not seek for themselves. But, I also see that even without religion these horrible atrocities would still exsist. Because the need to be above, or better than, or control is a human condition that permeates all sectors of humanity. Not exclusive to the religious.
